‘Soft Edge of Morning’ is inspired by the mossy woodland areas of the Warburton property. The painting captures the forest in a hypnagogic state, that dreamlike threshold between sleep and waking, night and day. The critters like myself are waking. It’s misty and mossy, and everything feels soft underfoot and to the eye. The work reflects the atmosphere of Warburton’s damp, green forest environment, where the property feels both grounding and otherworldly.
The piece has used mask “reverse collage” as base layers, and layered with light washes, patterned, and paint skins.
