‘Meltwater’ was inspired by an aerial view captured from a helicopter while returning from Mendenhall Glacier in Alaska. The scene held several layers of landscape at once: glacier high in the mountains (where we had just been hiking), green rolling hills below, a waterfall, and a pond of luminous glacial green water. There is a sense of transition in the work: frozen becoming fluid, mountain becoming stream, and ancient landscape becoming something constantly moving and changing.
